CI’s Across the Country

One of the benefits of the the CI program is that each Confucius Institute across the country is autonomous, and as such they are able to act independently to address the needs of the communities they are part of. Here’s of some CI’s are getting involved during this challenging time.

The Confucius Institute of the University of South Carolina Raise Money for Masks

The Confucius Institute of the University of South Carolina partnered with Chinese Christian Church of Columbia, the Columbia Chinese School of South Carolina and the Living Stone Chinese Christian Church to raise $17,000 for the purchase of 20,300 masks and protective gowns. Learn more here.

CI at University of Kentucky Mask Stations

The Confucius Institute at the University of Kentucky set up mask stations around campus for students in graduate housing while maintaining social distancing. Check out their amazing work on Twitter here.

Confucius Institute at Alabama A&M University Donate Protective Gear to Huntsville ERs

CI at Alabama A&M University donated masks, gloves, goggles and gowns for medical personnel. They knew those would be needed because they had heard about China’s earlier experience with lack of supplies.

“When I walk on the street (in Huntsville), people always ask me, ‘How are you doing? How is your family doing?’” said Yong Wang, director of the Confucius Institute at Alabama A&M University. “We all feel a very warm welcome, and the Chinese community really appreciates the support.”Learn more here.
