The Confucius Institute U.S. Center is a (501)(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the teaching and learning of Chinese language and culture in the United States and to foster educational and academic exchanges between China and the United States.

The Center serves to support the joint U.S.-China educational programs of the more than 100 Confucius Institutes in the U.S. and to coordinate regional educational initiatives. The Center’s mission is aligned with policy initiatives of the United States government that promote Chinese language education and cross-cultural understanding.

The education and professional development domain promotes Chinese language education in the United States and also provides professional development opportunities for Chinese language teachers. The arts and culture domain promotes artistic exchange between Chinese and American cultural and arts communities, including the general public. The academics and research domain fosters scholarly dialogue among experts and the academic community on relevant topics pertaining to China and the world. The public relations and outreach domain introduces the public to the achievements and ongoing programs of the CIUS Center as well as the Confucius Institutes in the United States.
