Film Club Discussion: Lost in Russia

May 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

For our May film discussion, join us for a discussion of the film, Lost in Russia.

About this Event

May is a month to honor mothers. Let’s watch a funny but touching movie about mother and son relations. Let’s unwind from the end of the semester (or Spring cleaning) with a funny lighthearted comedy!

Lost in Russia is the latest film in the “Lost in” franchise by Xu Zhen, who served as both the director and the lead actor. This movie was one of the most highly anticipated blockbusters during the most lucrative period during the 2020 Chinese Spring festival. However due to the Coronavirus, cinemas were all closed when it was about to release. The movie was instead streamed for free on the first day of the Chinese New Year. Many sons and mothers watched this funny movie together while they were stuck at home. Many found this movie very relatable.

Lost in Russia tells a heart-warming story about a middle-aged man and his loving but a little overbearing mother stuck on a long-distance train journey to Russia. It offers a lot of laughter and some deeper emotions when they bicker and bond on the journey.
